TELFORD, Marilyn Elaine 1934 - 2009 Surrounded by her family, Marilyn died peacefully on Thursday, July 16th, 2009. She died as she lived life with a big heart and a strong will. All who had the privilege of knowing Marilyn will so miss her quick wit and never ending sense of humour. She was a loving Mother to Jim Kirwan (Elizabeth), Finch; Brenda Kirwan, Ottawa; Jo Anne Savoie (Luc), Niagara Falls and Debbie Kirwan, Ottawa and also, was dearest Granny to Cory, Jamie, Sadie and Bandit. Devoted sister to Lorraine Webster, Rochester NY; Roberta Little, Penfield, NY; Joyce Thompson (Maynard), Ottawa, ON; and Joan Russell, Burnaby, BC. Predeceased by brother Roderick Telford, formerly of Calgary, AB. Niece of Hermonie Sharpe, Caldwell, QC. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews along with special friends Suzie, Heidi and Frances. Daughter of the late Gilbert and Norma Telford. Born and raised in Shawville, Quebec, Marilyn graduated from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in Renfrew, ON. Marilyn worked for 25 years as a Registered Nurse at the Perley Hospital on Aylmer Avenue, Ottawa. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Knitting Guild of Canada, Marilyn achieved the level of Master Knitter. She shared her expertise and passion for knitting with others, including teaching beginners at Ridgemont High School for several years and participating in many local knitting clubs. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod, Ottawa, on Monday, July 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, July 21st at 11 am. The family would like to sincerely thank the nursing staff and Doctors at both the Ottawa Hospital General Oncology Department and the Elisabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Unit. In memoriam, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Ottawa Unit 1745 Woodward Drive, Ottawa ONC 0P9 or a charity of one's choice will be appreciated.
