Mary J. Bateman SHEDIAC CAPE, NB - Mary Juliana Bateman, 92, of Route 134, Shediac Cape, NB, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the Spencer Memorial Home, after a brief illness. Born in Petitcodiac, NB, on January 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Colpitts and Eva Welling. She was a graduate of Petitcodiac High School and Normal School (Teacher's College) Fredericton. She taught School until her marriage in 1936. She was an active member of St-Martin's-in-theWoods, Shediac Cape, serving on Vestry Teaching Sunday School for many years, member of the ACW, Guild and Quilting Group. She was also a member of the Silver Sands Senior Club and Zetland Chapter #26 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by four sons, Edgar (Ann), George (Ruth), Fred (Sophie) and Hugh (Lois), all of Shediac Cape; one daughter, Marilyn (William) Dumaresq of L'Anse Clair, Labrador; 10 grandchildren, Kathy, Graham, Tracy, Sandra, Jennifer, Patrick, Martin, Robert, William, Tanya; six great grandchildren, Lynn, Tristen, Arlena, Samantha, Allyson, Zachary; two brothers, George Colpitts, of Petitcodiac and Lionel Colpitts of Glenvale; one sister, Beatrice Weaver (late John) of Elmsdale, NS; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence J. Bateman in 1993; an infant son, Robert in 1944; one brother, Philip Colpitts and three sisters, Crystal Marr, Frances Colpitts and Bertha Cowan. Remains resting at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754 Rte. 134, Shediac Bridge, 532-1050, with visiting hours on Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Service will take place at St-Martin's-in-the-Woods, Shediac Cape on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 2 PM. A reception will follow in the Young Smith Hall after the funeral. Memorial donations in Mary's memory my be made to the Church Army in Canada (1-888-316-8169) or the charity of the donor's choice.
