MANTHA, EDGAR F. The death of Edgar F. Mantha, husband of Shirley F. (Miner) Mantha of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Thursday December 30th, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, he was the son of the late George and Anita (Therrien) Mantha. Ed is survived by his wife Shirley, two daughters, Anita Goraieb and her husband John of Oakville, Ont., and Cheryl Richard and her husband Marc of Fredericton, NB; three grandchildren, Thomas and Brandon Goraieb of Oakville, Ont., and Claire Richard of Fredericton, NB; one brother, Armand Mantha and his wife June of Oshawa, Ont.; one sister, Viola Davey and her husband George of Toronto, Ont., and one sister-in-law, Mary Mantha of Detroit, Michigan. Ed was predeceased by his parents, his step-father, Theodore LeClair; three brothers, Ernest, Roy and Romeo Mantha and one sister, Ella Mantha. Ed worked in sales for most of his professional life and was a longtime and very active member of Christ Church (Parish) Church having served on vestry, the Board of St. Anne's Lodge, and the Men's Club. Ed was a volunteer at the Pine Grove Nursing Home, The YMCA, The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, and an active member of the Fredericton Golden Club. Ed was a heart transplant recipient and was an avid promoter of organ donation. As a member of the Canadian Transplant Games Association, he received one gold and three silver medals. Ed was an avid golfer for over 45 years and also enjoyed bowling. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Sunday, January 2nd, 2005 at 1:30 PM with The Ven. John Sharpe officiating assisted by The Rev. Elaine Hamilton. A reception will take place in the church hall immediately following the memorial service. Interment will take place in the Ludlow Anglican Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to Christ Church (Parish) Church would be appreciated by the family.
