After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Roy passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 30, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born June 14, 1939 in Stratford, Ont., and having lived in Goderich during his teenage years, he was a son of Muriel Shoebottom (Reinhart), Bolton Ont., and the late Wilfred J. Reinhart. Roy served proudly in the Royal Canadian Navy for 23 years. He will be fondly remembered by many family and friends. Along with his mother and stepfather, Bill Shoebottom, Bolton, Ont., Roy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, the former M. Majella "Madge" (Chiasson); children, Judy (Chris) Dangerfield, Ottawa; Jennifer (Phillip) Thibault, Dartmouth; Steven (Sandy), Shubenacadie; grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan and Laine Dangerfield, Ottawa; Sarah, Joshua, Matthew and Rachel Thibault, Dartmouth; Alex and Jesse Reinhart, Shubenacadie; sisters, Ruth Davies, Kitchener, Ont.; Lynda (Owen) Rodgers, Nobleton, Ont.; Patricia Docherty, Cambridge, Ont.; brother, John (Nancy), Goderich, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the family will receive friends today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 320 Flying Cloud Dr., Dartmouth, Father Patrick Cosgrove officiating. Private family interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Family flowers only.
