Vera Irene Elmourne (née Lee) - September 09, 1920 - August 22, 2004 - aged 83, Halifax, was taken into God's hands suddenly on August 22, 2004. Born in London, England, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Winnifred (Harriett) Lee. She worked at a school in England for many years before coming to Canada in 1951. She worked for many years for United Cigar Stores as a manager where she retired from at the age of 66. She began knitting for the IWK Health Centre when she retired, keeping many babies warm. She was involved with the Friendship Seniors group for many years. Surviving are sons, David Kennett, Halifax; Malcolm (Myrtle) Kennett, Mineville; brother, George (Doreen) Lee, England; sisters, Iris Lucas, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Doris Brown, Philadelphia, Pa.; grandchildren, Susan (Brian) Allen, Lower Sackville; Karen Kennett, Halifax; Dawn Kennett, Kingston, Ont.; Lisa Kennett, Halifax; Scott (Belinda) Kennett, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Allen, Kingston, Ont.; Amaya Kennett, Halifax; Jonathan Allen, Lower Sackville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husbands, Frederick G. Kennett and Thomas Elmourne; brother, Albert Lee, and sister, Evelyn Lee. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held in St. John's Anglican Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, Rev.
