Frederick Jokinen - 15 Poplar Cres., Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Nov. 7, 2004. He was 78 years old. Mr. Jokinen was born on July 23, 1926 in Chapleau. He worked as a papermill foreman. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Silver Seniors, and the Kap Golf Club for 50 years. He was described by family as very athletic, boxing in the army, was a fastball pitcher, played hockey, curled and played tennis. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was past president of the Labour Council and the local union and was an avid Blue Jays fan. Mr. Jokinen is survived by his wife Agnes, daughter Karen Jokinen (Jeffrey Hurl) of Barrie, brother William (Shirley) of Kapuskasing and granddaughter Nicole. Fr. Fernand Villeneuve will direct the funeral at St. Patrick’s Church today at 1 p.m. Mr. Jokinen will be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
