Eric Blanchette , of Hearst - Date of Death: November 7th, 2004 - The funeral service for Éric Blanchette, 26, of 907 Hallé St, Hearst is to be held this afternoon (Nov. 10). He died Nov. 7 in Hearst. Born April 15, 1978 in Hearst, he was an École secondaire de Hearst Class of 1997 graduate and was a Hearst Tembec employee. Described by family as jovial, sportsminded, sociable and a hard worker, he played for Hearst's AA Midget Élans from 1994-1996. A defenceman, his overtime goal during the March 1995 NOHA Midget AA playdowns in Iroquois Falls earned the Élans the championship and subsequent berth to that spring's All-Ontario finals in Bowmanville. He also enjoyed golf, cycling and outdoors activities. He leaves his parents Réjeanne (née Lemieux) and Réjean Blanchette of Hearst, sister Vicky (Danny Bégin) Blanchette-Bégin, brothers Alain (Line Deschamps) and Michel Blanchette, all of Hearst, and a nephew Simon Bégin. Rev. Rémi Lessard is to direct the 4:15 p.m. service at Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment is to follow at Monsignor Grenier Cemetery. Funeral director is the Salon Lafrance Funeral Home. Commemorative donations may be made to Hearst's KidSport chapter.
