Nora Dorothy Spicer (née Bowes) August 04, 1923 - July 18, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) SPICER, Nora Dorothy - 80, Halifax, passed away peacefully July 18, 2004, in Northwood Centre. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Bowes. She was the loving and devoted wife of 55 years to the late Chester Spicer. Nora and Chester raised seven children and saw their families grow to a total of 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Surviving are sons, Michael (Sandra), Shubenacadie; Garnet (Paulette), Halifax; daughters, Sharon (David) Strome, East Dalhousie; Judy (Blair) Conrad, Lower Sackville; Linda Spicer, Halifax; Elaine (Dan) Coles, Middle Sackville; Karen (Brian) Murphy, Dartmouth; brother, Gladwin Bud (Jean) Bowes, Bedford; sister, Rita (Terry) Sullivan, St. Thomas, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by brother, Calvin Bowes, and sister, Eleanor Organ. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mulgrave Park Baptist Church, Pastor Brian Keezer officiating. Interment to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northwood Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
