Linda MacPherson, 51 Linda Susan (Mills) MacPherson died December 9 at Brockville General Hospital after a long struggle with cancer. She was 51 years old. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on November 14, 1953, daughter of Bertha and Gordon Mills, of Joggens, N.S. In 1959, she and her family moved to Sherbroke, N.S., where she went to grade school. In 1966, she moved back to Halifax where she completed high school. She attended nursing school at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax before moving to Bridgetown, N.S. In 1974 she moved to Brockville to attend St. Lawrence College, where she obtained a diploma in nursing science technology in 1977. On December 28, 1974, she married Wayne MacPherson, formerly of Oxford, N.S. They lived briefly in Brockville and Maitland before moving to Cardinal, where she gave birth to two sons, Alex in 1982 and Scott in 1985. Mrs. MacPherson worked at Caldwell Linens in the physical testing lab at Iroquois, then moved to the quality control lab at Parke-Davis in Brockville, 1979-82. While raising her two sons she obtained a bachelor of science degree from the University of Waterloo by correspondence (1991). In 1992 she and her family moved to Brockville. She developed a career in life insurance and financial planning, working for Met Life and eventually becoming a certified financial planner (CFP). Throughout her life she was a passionate cook and a very talented seamstress. She was also an avid quilter and member of the Upper Canada Quilters Guild. She also enjoyed weaving. Mrs. MacPherson was active on several church committees at Wall Street United Church. She is survived by her mother Bertha, husband Wayne, two sons Alex and Scott, brother Allan of Toronto and sister Karen of Victoria, B.C. She was predeceased by her father Gordon, brother Jerry and sister Joanne. The funeral was held at Wall Street United church December 13.
