Ken Boyd, 71 PRESCOTT -- Kenneth Bernard "Ken" Boyd, 71, a retired pipefitter, died suddenly December 15 at Brockville General Hospital. He was born on November 13, 1933 in Prescott to Fred Boyd and the former Blanche Nugent. He married Agnes Eva Seeley on June 30, 1956 at St. Mark's Church, Prescott. He worked first at the Johnstown grain elevator, then worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway construction and finally, in 1956, started working at the DuPont chemical plant at Maitland. He trained over the years and became a first class pipefitter. In 1986 he was offered - and accepted - a retirement package from DuPont. After working briefly at G&S and Caldwell's, he took up his love of farming full-time. A man of the soil, he felt most at home on his own land, with his own animals, tending his own crops, mending fences and setting his own limits. He loved his family, his friends and his farm. Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife Agnes, daughters Diana and husband Dennis Smith, Cheryl and husband Mark Davy and Debbie and husband Bill Martin, and son Peter and wife Carlene, as well as grandchildren Heather and Sarah Smith, Lee and Shanna Davy, Victoria Boyd, Ashley and Vanessa Martin, and Aimee, Phillip, Matthew and Jesse Boyd. Also surviving are his sisters Alice and husband Gordon Kerr and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Alan. Friends called at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, on December 17. The funeral was held December 18 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Prescott, with Father John Appelman celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Mark's Cemetery in the spring. The pallbearers were Terry Adams, Bruce St. John, Don Thompson, Fred Fraser, Jim Fraser and Ralph Dukelow. Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
