Sally Dewar, 89 IROQUOIS -- Sarah Emily "Sally" Dewar, 89, of Cardinal, died December 27 at Ottawa General Hospital. She had been in failing health for several months. She was born January 5, 1915 in Iroquois to Lloyd Brooks Davidson and the former Mary Ethel Caloren. Raised in Ventnor, she attended public school in Spencerville. During the years of the Second World War she came to Brockville where she worked at Phillips Cables and made many friends. She married Kenneth Dewar on September 8, 1947 in her home in Ventnor. A housewife and mother, she was an active member of St. Andrew's and St. James Presbyterian Church Ladies' Aid Group, the Women's Missionary Society, the church choir and the community choir. She was also a lifetime member of the St. Lawrence Rebekah Lodge No. 373 in Morrisburg for 50 years. Mrs. Dewar is survived by her daughter Susan and husband Ron Johnson of RR 5, Spencerville and by her sister-in-law Eileen Davidson and her family of St. Catharines and two nieces Maureen Tavener and Louella Armstrong and their families, of Peterborough. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Armstrong and a brother Harold Davidson. A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Andrew's and St. James Riverside Cemetery, Cardinal. Arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Iroquois.
