Sgt. William "C.D." Robert Bryan April 27, 1931 - July 17, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) BRYAN, Sgt. William Robert "C.D." - Passed away July 17, 2004, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax on April 27, 1931, he was a son of the late William and Joan Bryan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 81st Field Artillery. In his military career he received a Korean Service Medal, Korean Volunteer Medal, NATO Forces Medal, Peacekeeping Medal, United Nations Korean Medal, and Canadian Decoration Service Medal. Bill was the fifth generation of Bryans to serve in the British and Canadian Artillery. He was a member of the Fairview Legion, past director of the Halifax JC's and involved with Scouts Canada. After completing his military service, he was employed with Canada Post and retired after 17 years. He is survived by wife, Anne (Strachan); daughter, Joanne (Pierre) DesRoches; sons, Bob (Arlene), Tim (Beth); grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Ian and Hannah; sisters, Joy Gillis, Mississippi; Paulette Dann, Halifax. He was predeceased by brother, Jackie; sister, Dianne. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
