Grenville Denton Thomas March 23, 1920 - October 23, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Castle Funeral Home-Fallsview Chapel The death of Grenville D. Thomas, of Kennebecasis Park, occured at St. Joseph's Hospital on October 23, 2004. Born March 24, 1920, Grenville was the son of the late Vincent and Rebecca (MacAuley) Thomas. Born in West Saint John, he was a graduate of Saint John High School. He was a member of St. George's Anglican Church. In his younger years he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served as Vestry Clerk. Gren went to work with NB Tel in 1940, taking time off to serve in the Royal Canadian Airforce during WW II and returning to NB Tel after the war, working in Campbellton, Woodstock, Fredericton and Saint John until his retirement in 1980. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Cedar Hill Greenwood Cemtery. He was a Charter President of the Kinsmen Club (Campbellton), Charter President of Campbellton Air Force Wing, Instructor of Air Force Cadets, Coach of Little League Baseball, Member of the Masonic Lodge, and Member of the Restigouche Golf and Curling Club. Gren was also Sports Announcer for CFNB Radio Station and on weekends he liked nothing better than to travel with the hockey team to broadcast the games for Campbellton fans. He also loved hunting and fishing. Gren leaves his wife of 62 years Mary (Joyce) Thomas, 2 sons; Rev. Peter Thomas (Janet) of Fredericton NB and Rev. Reginald Thomas (Janice) of Brazil Lake, NS; his sister Lillian (Robert) Epton of West Saint John, 2 grandsons; Luke (Sue) Thomas of Ontario and Rev. Andrew (Kelly) Thomas of Nova Scotia, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers; Herbert, Clair, Vincent and Jack. Resting at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. West Saint John (634-1701). Visitation on Monday October 25, 2004, 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from St. George's Anglican Church, Watson St., West Saint John, 2 pm Tuesday, October 26, 2004. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Memorial Donations to the Parkinson Society Canada or a charity of the donors choice.
