Austin Joseph McKenna February 19, 1921 - August 11, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) McKENNA, Austin Joseph - Passed away peacefully in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Central Bedeque, P.E.I. in 1921, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Clarkin) McKenna. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Angie (Coyle); sons, Michael, Paul (Tana), Peter (Aline), Stephen (Michele), Shaun (Donna); daughter, Joanne (Bob); grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicole, Christopher, Jessica, Kate, Blake; sisters, Hilda (McAvinn) and Sister Nora McKenna (SC); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Louis, Maurice, Father Leonard, Charles, Gerald, George Norbert; sisters, Ruth and Mary. He was a graduate of St. Dunstan's University, P.E.I. and retired from the Department of National Defence (HMC Dockyard) after 32 years as a drafting instructor. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral will be held Monday, August 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Bayers Road, Father K. Robertson officiating. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (conference of St. Catherine of Siena) would be gratefully appreciated.
