MELVIN, RALPH LINDBURG - Ralph Lindburg Melvin, 71, of the Windsor Elms, formerly of Hortonville, Kings County, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2004 in the Elms. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late George and Dora (McNutt) Melvin. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax for 10 years, worked as an appliance repairman and later with Kentucky Fried Chicken in Wolfville. He loved hunting, fishing, card playing and darts. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Crowell; three daughters, Rose (Floyd) Davidson, Grand Pré; Barbara (Daniel) Kelley, Grand Pré; Linda (Fred) Norton, Lockhartville, Kings County; two sons, Jim (Tina), Port Williams; Kevin (Nancy), Wolfville; two sisters, Mary Kaye (Ken) Mallory; Ruth (Del) D'Arcy, all of Saint John; one brother, Frank, Ottawa; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, George, Reg and Leslie. There will be no visitation by family request. A funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004 in the W. C. Hiltz / White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Saint John. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Windsor Elms Rest Home.
