BUFFINGTON, Robyn Elizabeth - Robyn Elizabeth, 22, tragically while on vacation in Panama with her best friend Claire Fraser. Cherished daughter of Margaret Buffington, Sault Ste. Marie and Barry and Roberta Buffington, Thunder Bay. Much loved granddaughter of Elizabeth Allcock of Sault Ste. Marie formerly of Thunder Bay and Ray Buffington, Thunder Bay. Special niece to Bill, Jim, Marion, John, (all enroute). Great niece to Barbara Lamb, Sault Ste. Marie, Laurence Lamb and family, Vineland, Ontario, Dorothy and Bob Butler, Aurora. Loved cousin of many, including Kelly and Jason Gartshore, Helen Gillespie, Chris, Alita, RhaeLynn Gillespie. Treasured honourary niece and special friend of Joanne and Robert St. Onge, Timmins, Lori Rainone, Toronto, Cathy Pappas, Toronto, Donna Dowhy, Thunder Bay, and the Gillespie family. Robyn graduated from Sir James Dunn High School and has many friends in Sault Ste. Marie. She then attended Lakehead University, graduated with her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and had started a challenging career with Canadian Border Services in Thunder Bay. She was well-loved and respected for her dedication and diligence. The family wishes to extend its deep gratitude to the Canadian Consulate in Ottawa and the Canadian Border Services, especially Superintendent Paul Carey in Thunder Bay for caring and exhaustive efforts above and beyond the call of duty. Special thanks to Helen Gillespie for bringing sensitivity, compassion and bureaucratic expertise, and to Lori Rainone for the loving support of a friend. Robyn and Claire were best friends and roomates. They had both attended Lakehead University and were both employed as Customs Inspectors. Canadian Border Services is coordinating the establishment of a scholarship and bursary fund in their names, at Lakehead University. Services in Thunder Bay to held on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, 10:00 a.m., Trinity United Church with a full colour guard by the Canadian Border Services, followed by a reception celebrating Robyn's life, to be held at the Valhalla Inn. A private service will be held in Sault Ste. Marie. Robyn was a caring, generous, thoughtful daughter, friend, and family member. She enjoyed every minute of her life and she walked this earth with high spirit and joy. Robyn was committed to giving blood on a regular basis. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that blood donations be made in her honour, or donations be made to the Canadian Blood Services. 8/28/2004- ID4679657 - Sault Star
