GOUGH, HARRY P. The death of Harry Phillips Gough of Fredericton, NB occurred on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Lower Woodstock, NB on January 10, 1911, he was the son of William J. and Nellie (Longstaff) Gough. He began employment with the City of Fredericton in the City Clerk's office in 1938, and retired in 1971 as City Clerk and Treasurer. Harry Gough was a member of Wilmot United Church, and had served as a steward, assistant treasurer, elder, and trustee. He was a member of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants. He was honoured as Governor #37 of the Canadian Jaycees, and was awarded honorary membership in the International Firefighters Association, Local 1053 (Fredericton) and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4, Fredericton. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Hazel (Crandall) in 1982; and his brothers Frank, Stewart, Karl, and Tom. He is survived by two sons, Peter (Linda), Fredericton; Brian (Myrna), Oshawa; grandsons Stephen Gough, Montreal; Kevin Gough (Natalie), Maugerville; step-granddaughter Kathy (Andy) Benson, Oshawa; step grandsons, Michael Matyi and Stephen Matyi (Ann), Whitby; great grandson, Colton; three step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews Kaye Butler, Bill Gough, Marion Clowater, Jerry Gough, John Gough, Sharon Hart, and Nancy Hallett; cousin Joyce Gallagher; grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Visitation will take place at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton on Tuesday, March 2 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilmot United Church, corner of King and Carleton Streets, with Rev. Garth Caseley officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wilmot Church Capital Maintenance Fund, the Fredericton Community Foundation Inc., VON Fredericton Branch Inc., or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. www.mcadamsfh.com
