KEATING, MURRAY G. - Suddenly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 27, 2004, Murray Glendon Keating of Saint John, husband of Audrey (Heans) Keating. Born in (Fairville) Saint John, a son of the late William and Sarah Keating. Murray was a veteran of World War II, serving under the Grenadier Guards (Tank Corps) who were involved in the liberation of Holland. Following his discharge he also became active with the Militia at Barrack Green Armories where he was truly a "Sergeant Major". Murray was also a longtime member of Branch #69 Legion. Murray worked for several years for Northern Electric, then transferred to NB Tel where he remained until his retirement in 1990. Murray also enjoyed rifle shooting with the N.B.R.A. with whom he was a member for several years. Since his retirement his pleasures included traveling and being the "Worlds Best Papa" to his three grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife Audrey is one daughter; Karen and her husband Michael Steen of Saint John, a brother-in-law; Murray Finley of Saint John, three grandchildren; Glen Steen, Megan Steen and Matthew Steen. Predeceased by his son Murray Glendon Keating, also a sister; Aileen Finley, a brother; Raymond Keating and a sister-in-law; Mary Keating. Resting at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. West Saint John (634-1701). Funeral service will be held at Fallsview Chapel on Wednesday March 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. Interment will be later in the spring at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Visitation at Fallsview on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Donations may be made to charity of the donors choice. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the Funeral Home Tuesday at 7 p.m. Following the service a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre.
