Harry Burton Wetmore 1924-2004 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Flight Sergeant Harry Burton Wetmore at the age of 79. He passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Marie (nee Poirier) Wetmore. Harry was a Veteran of The Second World War, having served overseas as an air gunner with the RCAF. Following the war he married Juanita (nee Purcell). They settled in the Halifax, NS area (Portuguese Cove) and raised a family of five children. He was a career railroad man as his father before him, and with a break for wartime service, worked for the CNR from 1942 through 1981, progressing to the position of Inspector. In the fall of 1968 the family moved to Moncton, where Harry accepted the position of Station Agent. Some years later he transferred to CN Marine Atlantic assuming responsibility for ferry logistics and continued there until his retirement. He then became part owner of a maple sugar operation in Elgin where he managed that for ten years. Harry loved to garden and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and served as president of The Moncton Golf & Country Club. Harry will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Juanita Marie; his two daughters, Beverly C. Power, Halifax, and Joanne J. Fawcett (John), Moncton; and his three sons, Robert (Linda), Halifax, Randy (Anne), Halifax, and Harry (IV) Michael (Vicki), Jasper, AB. He lived to see his first great grandchild, a son, Jacob Harry (VI) Wetmore. He is also survived by a sister, Yvonne Brinton, Berwick, NS and a brother, Lloyd (Stella), Regina, SK, and was predeceased by two brothers, Edwin and Norman.
