SCRIBBANS, BERTHA MAE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday March 17, 2004, Bertha Mae Scribbans of Saint John West, wife of the late Walter W. Scribbans Sr. Born in Fairville, West Saint John, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Stephens) Knox. She attended the Salvation Army on the West Side for many years before attending the Lighthouse of Faith Church, Main St. North End, Saint John. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are three daughters Mae Vales of Burlington Ont., Shirley O'Neill of Saint John and Carolyn (Bill) Martin of Rothesay, two sons Angus (Joan) Scribbans of Dartmouth and Bill (Chris) Scribbans of Saint John, one sister Helen Arseneau of Saint John, 20 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren, five Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Walter also one daughter Willa Thibault and one son Walter Scribbans Jr., two sons in law Stewart Vales and Lawrence O'Neill, two grandsons Drake O'Neill and Matthew Scribbans. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at CASTLE Fallsview Funeral Home Chapel, 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701) on Sunday at 1 pm with Pastor Lawrence Morin officiating. Following the service there will be a reception held at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lighthouse of Faith Church, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice. [Telegraph-Journal]
