OLIVE, VERNON R. Born March 7, 1924 in Milltown, NB, the son of R. Vernon Olive and Margaret (Redmond) Olive. A resident of Fredericton since 1927, he attended St. Dunstan's School and Fredericton High School. He served in the R.C.A.F. during World War II in Canada and the United Kingdom. Vernon joined the Provincial Civil Service in 1947 and was employed in the Motor Vehicle Division and the Health Department. He resigned from the Civil Service in 1958 to become the administrator of the Forest Hill Rehabilitation Centre. In 1965 he was appointed Executive Director of the N.B. Hospital Association, a position he held until his retirement in 1983 due to health reasons. He was a charter and founding member of the N.B. Health Executives Association and a founding member of the Canadian College of Health Executives. Interested in the Boy Scouts for many years, he served as a Scoutmaster, Assistant District Commissioner and President of the District Council. A co-founder of the 8th Fredericton Legion Troop and served on it's group committee for many years. Mr. Olive was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch # 4, R.C.A.F. Association, past president of the Fredericton Curling Club, founding member and past president of the Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club, a member of Holy Family Parish Church. He is survived by his wife Doris (Crawford); five children Michael (Linda) of Kingston, Ontario, Terrence (Cathy) of Fredericton, Patricia (Brian) of Fredericton, Kimberley (Ron) of Ottawa, Susan (Jim) of Fredericton; 10 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons and two brothers. The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday March 25, 2004 at Holy Family Parish Church at 12:00 noon with Father Jack Dolan officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
