Robert Victor Perras ---- October 10, 1926 - December 29, 2004 ---- After a lengthy battle with cancer, “Bob” peacefully passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. Born in St. Francois Xavier on October 10, 1926, Robert is survived by brother Eugene (Simone) and sisters Louise La Belle and Claire Lacroix (of Winnipeg, MN); numerous nieces and nephews in addition to extended family members Roberta McIntyre (Thunder Bay, ON) and the Duncan family (formally of Upsala, ON). He is predeceased by his parents Adrien and Mary Eda Perras; brother Henry (January, 2004) and brother-in-law Aurel Lacroix (December, 2003) as well as 2 brothers and 1 sister in the house fire of 1922. Robert received both his elementary and secondary education at St. Francois Xavier. First employed with Manitoba Hydro, he moved to Northwestern Ontario to work on the C.P.R. track line. Settling in Upsala in the early ‘60’s, he retired after 32 years of service with the C.P.R. and remained a long time resident of Upsala until his illness. During his lifetime, he was an active participant in baseball games. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his community, neighbors and friends. According to his wishes, Robert will be cremated and interment, along with a memorial service will take place in Upsala June 29, 2005. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Thank You The family expresses sincere thanks to Doctor Scott and the Oncology staff of 1A for their compassionate care for Robert during his hospitalization. A special thanks goes to Doctor Miller who provided ongoing care and support far beyond the call of duty. We would further like to thank Robert’s friends and neighbors of Upsala for their friendship and care during his life in Upsala. Rest in Peace Brother “Gone but not forgotten” “The pain we feel most deeply Is the hardest thing today because we, your family, loved you in a special way. We hold you close within our hearts; no distance can divide. For today, in Memory’s Lane, we still walk side by side. Our thoughts are with you, your place no one can fill. In life we loved you dearly; In death we love you still.” JENKENS FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE
