Peacefully, at the Civic Hospital, on Thursday, February 14, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer, in his 86th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Helen (nee McConnell/Baxter). Devoted father of Dawn Short (Harry), Stephen Cotnam (Katie), Kathy Smillie (Ron Thompson), Mark Cotnam (Shelley), Richard Cotnam (Carole), Carolyn Doyle (Ken), Andy Cotnam (Pam), Geoffrey Baxter (Karen) and Jane Irwin. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Vanessa, Tony, Sarah, Nathalie, Dagny, Kirsten, Elizabeth, Haley, Genny, Katie, Lisa, Amanda, Carrie, Derick, Olivia and Adam. Dear brother of Margaret Larocque. Predeceased by his sister Laura Keiller and brother Harold Cotnam. Predeceased by his first wife, Cherry (Margaret). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Clifton established Advanced Prefab Ltd. in 1952. His company celebrates 50 years in business in Ottawa this year. Clifton was a lifetime member of the Optimists Club of Ottawa-Carleton. He will be forever remembered by friends and families for his gracious and sincere ways. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Sunday, February 17, 2002 from 2-5 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, February 18th at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Special thanks to the staff of the Ottawa Civic and Ottawa General Hospitals for their special care. The Ottawa Citizen, 16-02-2002
