(1924 - 2002) It is with great sorrow that Manuel Alves and children announce the death of their cherished wife and mother, after a short illness, while visiting in Portugal on Thursday, March 14, 2002 in her 78th year. She was born in Freitas, Portugal and has made Ottawa her home for the past 42 years. Beloved wife of Manuel Alves for 55 years and loving mother of Manuel (Goreti), Joao (Ondina), Silvina Alves and Maria Beckstead (Gordon). Loving grandmother of John, Raquel, Justin, Daniel Alves and Manuel Beckstead. Special thanks for the tender loving care received at the Intensive Care Ward at Hospital S. Marcos, Braga, Portugal. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Centro Comunitario Espirito Santo, 115 Echo Drive at Main Street on Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment Hope Cemetery.
