Peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Heart Institute of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Born January 3, 1908, in Nelson, BC. Beloved husband of Genevieve Thomson for 61 years. Dear father of Fletcher (Susan) of Boston and Morley (Jane) of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Fraser (Ruth), Ian (Heather), Heather (Jonathan) and Anne. Also survived by sisters-in-law Margaret Thomson, Delta, BC and Barbara Chivers of Ottawa and nieces and nephews. Malcolm will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. An Astronomer, he retired as Head of the Time and Frequency Division of NRC in December 1972. Malcolm was a member of Kingsway United Church and an active member of the Rotary Club of West Ottawa since 1961. He was past president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. In 1988 he was presented with a 50 year button by Acacia 561 Masonic Lodge. He was a past president of the YM-YMCA Friday Luncheon Discussion Club. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd) on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service in the chapel at 12 noon.
