At the Northumberland Health Care Centre in Cobourg on Monday, March 25, 2002, Keith Torrie in his 77th year. Devoted husband of 54 years to Leta Torrie (nee Wansbrough). Loving father of Glenn (Elaine) of Kingston, Alan (Susan) of Burlington, Ralph (Judy) of Ottawa, Paul (Mary Jane) of Toronto, Neil (Kaye) of Cobourg, Joan, Ian (Christine), Brian (Gillian), and Susan (John) all of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Rachel, Mark, Alex, Lauren, Alison, Jake, Ryan, Keith, Sean, Ellen, David, Grace, Joseph, Robert, and Laura. Dear son of the late Douglas and the late Marjorie Torrie (nee Cook) of Orangeville. Brother of the late Alan Torrie. Brother-in-law of Irma and Stan Kadela of Kitchener. Keith was a graduate of the University of Toronto (Chemistry, 1950), and shared his life long love of learning with his children and grandchildren. Keith enjoyed an active and engaged life with his family and community. He gave service to his country in World War II and later in his career as a Federal Public Servant (Industry, Trade and Commerce) in Ottawa. His private sector career included positions with Elizabeth Arden Perfumes, Pure Spring Soft Drinks, and General Foods. A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church (Chapel and Division Street, Cobourg) on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Orangeville in the Spring. Visitation to be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the Sandy Torrie Caregivers Fund, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation, Burlington, Ontario, or to the Featherston Drive Public School (Autism Unit), 1801 Featherston Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.
