Peacefully at Groves Park Lodge, Renfrew, on Wednesday, March 27, 2002. Born 104 years ago on September 1, 1897, in the McLaren Settlement of Ross Township, she was the daughter of John Carmichael McLaren and Mary Elizabeth Ferguson, whose people came from the Perthshire area of Scotland. She was the last of a large family; her brothers were Donald and Duncan and her sisters were Mary (Bert Olmstead), Janet (Harvey Blakely), Lorena, Margaret and Caroline (Gordon Porter). She was a beloved aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. Jean enjoyed her teaching career and had a lifelong interest in children and education. Her church was central in her life and she taught Sunday school for years. We wish to thank the staff of Groves Park Lodge for their kind care of our aunt over the past two years. A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Aunt Jean's long life will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (Kerr Line), Ross. Interment and reception will follow. Donations to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Anderson Funeral Home, Renfrew.
