(nee Heims) Passed away suddenly March 31, 2002 after a brief illness. Janet was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Muriel Heims, and her loving husband John Howard Baker. She is survived by her four children: Mark (Ruth), Susan, Andrew and James Baker, and by her 7 grandchildren: Krista, Megan, Madeline, Hannah-Mae, Graham, Jack and Hayley. Janet devoted her life to her family and friends. Born in England in 1932, Janet first came to Canada as a war-guest in 1940 until 1944 when she was reunited with her parents. She returned to Canada in 1954 with her husband John. Despite dealing with multiple sclerosis for 30 years she remained actively involved in her community and her children's and grandchildren's lives. Her sense of humour and zest for life were appreciated by many. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, at Richmond Road, on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 439 Queen Street.
