Suddenly, but peacefully in hospital, in Ottawa on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of June (nee Middleton) and loving father of Pamela (Peter Usher) of Clayton, Ontario, David (Donna Craig) of Vancouver, British Columbia and Carol (Bruce Walton) of Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Amelia Usher. Al had a long career serving his country as a navigator with the RCAF in WWII and later as a Flight Lieutenant, and from 1963 to 1982 as an educator with the federal government in the former Department of Manpower and Immigration Canada. Also during this period, he obtained a Master's of Education from the University of Ottawa. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, April 4, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 70 James Street at Kent on Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. For those wishing, donations made to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family.
