Peacefully at Marianhill Nursing Home on Saturday, April 6, 2002 in her 87th year. Erma Johanna Walsh (nee Closs) formerly of Brockville, beloved wife of the late John Thomas Walsh. Loving mother of Terry (Bev) of Pembroke, Brian (Leona) of Unionville, Kevin (Joan) of Nepean, Maureen Radley-Walters (Grant) of Pembroke, and Michael (Anne) of Kanata. Caring grandmother of Lisa (Matthew) Bradley, David (Jill), Sandy (Manuel) deSousa, Debbie (Carlos) Mendiola, Bradley (Helen), Scott (Lori), Patti (Scott), Alison (Scott), Elizabeth, Mark, Ryan and Meghan. Predeceased by parents Peter and Margaret Closs (nee Majoury), and by brothers Henry, Peter, Joseph and Charles Closs, and by sisters Margaret Barr, Marceline Mulvihill, Annie Londeau, Mary Gorra (Kubiseski) and Regina Kluke. Also survived by 8 loving great-grandchildren. Erma earned her R.N. at the Ontario Hospital School of Nursing, Brockville in 1939. During her Nursing Course she received, each year, the highest marks in her class, and upon writing her registration examination, she received the award for the highest marks in the province of Ontario. She worked for many years as a nurse and later as an assistant director and clinical instructor in the course for registered nursing assistants at the St. Vincent De Paul Hospital, Brockville. Visitation at the Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Monday from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday after 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pembroke on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. Short Service and Interment beside her husband Jack at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Lynn Road, Brockville on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 1 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Marianhill would be appreciated. Erma will live in the hearts of those who loved her forever. We are very grateful for the caring and compassion Mom always received from the staff of "B" Wing of Marianhill and from Dr. Weatherston.
