With a glorious recording of her 1950's St. Thomas The Apostle Church 40-Voice Junior Choir singing Handel's Allelulia Chorus in her earphones, died in hospital on Friday evening, April 12, 2002 after a long and gallant battle against heart and circulatory problems, in her 84th year. Darling Grace is the beloved wife of George G. Blackburn and dear mother of Andrea Thompson of Albany, Georgia, Mark Blackburn (Irene) of Winnipeg and Ronald Blackburn of Ottawa. Daugter of the late Commander Archibald and Alice Fortington. She is also survived by her brother Roy (Pauline) of Brockville; 5 grandchildren, Kim Galway (Peter) of Toronto, Aaron and Ben Blackburn of Winnipeg, Maxine Blackburn of Ottawa and David Kearns (Laura Lee) of Toronto; and 4 great-grandchildren, Victoria and Matthew Makhoul of Toronto and Thomas and Emily Blackburn of Winnipeg. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Monday, April 15, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
