R.N. (retired) Etta passed away peacefully, at Carleton Lodge on the evening of April 19, 2002, at the age of 87. Predeceased by parents Harry and Elizabeth Forester, sister Phoebe Knox, and husband Lorne. Will be lovingly remembered by her son William, his wife Krystyna and grandchildren Julian and Kyla James of North Gower, nieces Carol Johns, Elizabeth Knox and nephew Ronnie James. Etta was born in Paisley, Scotland August 22, 1914 and went on to nurse in Scotland, England and Canada after arriving here as a war bride. She loved her nursing career, which spanned from being a midwife, and a war nursing sister, to being the first nurse trained for dialysis care in Ottawa. Etta dearly loved her family, and was fortunate to have had many lifelong friends from Red Pine Boys' Camp, St. Paul's Eastern United Church and Bethel Pentecostal Church. Her faith in Our Lord was ever present, even in the later years while suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Greatly appreciated is the wonderful care from the Carleton Lodge staff, Bradson Home Care (Myrna in particular) and family friend Roseann Farrell. No visitation, by request. A private interment was held at Capital Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Church at a later date in May. Arrangements by Ottawa Cremation Service.
