FLT. LT. RAF Coastal Command, 1942 - 1947; NRC Retired On April 29, 2002, at age 79, after a courageous journey with Alzheimers. Loving husband and best friend of Terry. Dear father of Michael (Marlene) Ottawa, Anne (Gordon Launcelott) Halifax, Ian (Vicky) Whitehorse, Valerie (Larry Atkins) Greely, and Jane (Tim Murphy) Ottawa. Best ever Granddad to Kristina, James, Stephen, Cheryl, Sebastian, Zoe, Megan, Haley, Sean, Brody and predeceased by Ella. Loving Great-Granddad to Alexander and Brodie. Born in Nottingham, England in 1923 and survived by his brother Thomas (Erica) Bourton-on-the-Water, England. After serving in the RAF he moved to Canada in 1952 where he joined the NRC in the field of Icing Research at the Low Temperature Lab until his retirement in 1987. Jim enjoyed a full life including travelling, hiking and many activities with his family and dogs. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, May 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the Chapel on Friday, May 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. Special thanks to the staff of Sterling Lodge and Carlingview Manor and Dr. Dawson and Dr. Mendis.
