("Les"/ "Laci") May 10, 1933 - May 24, 2002 Peacefully in hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 69. Loving husband of Kristina Kiszkiel and much loved father of Ray, Mike (Christine), Jackie (Bruce) and Cathy. Dear brother of Eva (Jeno) and uncle to Ken and Cathy. Predeceased by beloved mother Ilona, father Dezso and dear son, Martin. Fondly remembered and cherished by extended family and friends in Canada, Hungary, Poland and Scotland. Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1933, emigrated to Scotland in 1956 and then Canada in 1964. Graduated as a mechanical engineer at Glasgow University, he later joined the Canadian federal public service where he retired in 1986, moving on to other entrepreneurial ventures, including real estate with Royal Lepage. He was a life-long athlete who played competitive water-polo in all three of his home countries. His many joys in life included alpine skiing, including many years as a ski patroller with Camp Fortune Ski Club, a long time member of City View Tennis Club and former member of the Capital City Chorus. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, May 28 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Private interment Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Many thanks to the support of caring friends and special thanks to Lilly and Sanyi Kocsis, Dr. Louise Coulombe and the many kind and caring doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic and 5East Palliative Care, General Hospital. You fought hard but passed in peace. You have touched many lives and will always be remembered for your generosity of spirit and being, your ever-present humour and "joie de vivre".
