(nee Dickin) Peacefully, at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre, Ottawa, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her daughter Kathryn and best friend Eleanor by her side. Vel passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the age of 73. Beloved wife of the late Jack Marion and loving mother of Kathryn Walden (Ken) and Greg. Dear sister of Kathryn Sims (the late Ted), Jim (Nancy), Bob (Betty) and the late Bill (Janine). Her daughter wishes to express sincere appreciation for the warm and considerate care given by the entire Palliative Care team at Elisabeth Bruyere. A special thanks to her nurses Bruce, Krystyna, Helene, Lisa, Maria, Michelle, Rachel and Renee - your help and kindness will always be remembered. At Vel's request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens, Nepean. Donations to the Elisabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Unit or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
