B.A.Sc., M.A.Sc., Ph.D., P.Eng., S.B.StJ Professor (Retired) Carleton University, and Consulting Transportation Engineer, J.P. Braaksma & Associates Ltd., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, died of cancer at the Ottawa Hospital (Civic), June 17, 2002. Most cherished husband of Christine Wirta (nee Kilmartin). Loving father to Julie, and Jennifer (Scott McLelland), and step-father to Tanya (Brian Martin) and Alana (Leonard Dauphinee). Survived by his beloved brother Gerald (Virginia), and sisters Nell (Lorne Meyer) (Michigan), Tina (Paul Summerskill) (St. Catharines), and Elizabeth Braaksma (Thunder Bay). Loving "Uncle John" to David Braaksma, Debbie and Gerrit (Denis Piccolo), Arianne, Emerald, Olivia, Jakob, Grace and Liam. John was born in Wieringen, The Netherlands, December 5, 1938, and is survived by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins inside and outside of Canada. A private family service was held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes on Thursday, June 20, 2002. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to an open house, 14 Boulder Way, Nepean, Sunday, June 23, 2002, between 2 and 5 p.m. In memory of John, contributions would be greatly appreciated to "The John P.
