of Kemptville, 83 years young, in hospital in Winchester on Wednesday, June 19, 2002. Well known at Hartford Retirement House in Morrisburg where she rode the halls in her wheelchair bringing smiles to everyone. Widow of Ernest Barkley. Predeceased by her beloved sister Ivy Perry and her parents Percy and Elizabeth Allen. Very dear friend of Lois Forbes and Nan Chajkowski of Kemptville. Precious aunt of Tom, Rita, Joan, Shirley, Ruth, Doris and Anne. Member of Vimy Rebekah Lodge in Kemptville. Gert was truly the salt of the earth. She had a quick wit and a smile for everyone. Generous to a fault with her time and her possessions. A tireless volunteer in her community. She loved to sing-a-long, especially the songs from the Second World War era, and dressed like a fashion model, even in her wheelchair. We are grateful for the time this incredible lady had to share with us and for the sunshine she spread wherever she went. Visitation will be held at the Grant Brown Funeral Home Rolston Chapel, Kemptville, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rebekah service Sunday at 6:45 p.m. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Funeral Home.
