Edward Sidney James BRYANT

CD, Lt. Colonel, 19th. Alberta Dragoons - Retired Passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2002, a few days short of his 90th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Roma, children: Edward (Heather), Richard (Nancy), Sandra (Stan), Beverley (Loretta) and Lincoln (Wendy), 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his sisters: Marjorie, Peggy and Norma. Ed's early career was as a radio announcer (Hello the North) with CJCA in Edmonton. He was an active HAM Radio operation (VE6LG) and was president of the Northern Alberta Radio Club. He served in WWII as a CANLOAN Officer to the British Army. He landed on D Day as a Beach Master with 231 Brigade. After the waR he was active in the Militia and came to command the 19th Alberta Dragoons. He loved Alberta and was Director of Tourism for many years. Later in his career he moved to Ottawa and became Executive Director of the American Society of Travel Agents - Canada. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at White Oaks Presbyterian Church in Mississauga. Instead of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga would be most appreciated. The Ottawa Citizen, 03-07-2002
