Passed away peacefully in hospital, Wednesday, July 3, 2002 in his ninety-first year, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Windsor Mills, Quebec, Fred moved to Gatineau in 1930 and worked at the CIP until 1973. Beloved husband of 62 years of Wiltena Howard. Cherished father of Raymond (Shirley Attfield), Margaret (Graham McLaurin) and Lois McLaurin. Predeceased by one son Douglas Albert. "Poppa Fred" will always be remembered as a wise and good grandfather by Scott, Stan (Heather), stacey, Peter (Brandy), Ernie (Julie), Amy (Mike), Sue (Pete) and Martha. Great-grandchildren Emma, Emily and the soon-to-arrive Jacob Frederick will know him through our stories. Survived by brother Oswald John (Annie). Predeceased by brother Hugh Jack (Helen Gibb) and sister Verna (Bob McCarthy). Survived by nephews, nieces and friends. Fred was loved and respected by Jeannine (who thought of him as a second father (the late Stanley Howard) and their children Joanne (Benoit), Anne, Mark (Gina) and Gerry (Susan). Special thanks to Dr. Claude Leclerc and his partners and to the staff at CHVO, Pavillon Gatineau for their kind and friendly care. Fred was a quiet and unassuming man who lived life faithfully day by day. Visitation hours at A. Gauvreau Funeral Home, 750 Maloney East, Gatineau Thursday 7 to 9 and Friday starting at 11:30 a.m. Service will be held on Friday July 5, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Templeton.
