In hospital, Pembroke, Ontario on Monday, July 8, 2002 at the age of 80, after a brief illness. He will be sadly missed by his wife Carmelita Downey, his children Lorna, Allumette Island; Lorraine (Steve Carroll), Port Elgin, Ontario; Larry (Nancy Lapierre), Sheenboro; Mary (Steve Adams), Edmonton; Maureen (Barry Stitt), Fort Coulonge; Jean (Emile Lebel), Sheenboro; Elizabeth (Alex Jennings), Antigonish, Nova Scotia; Patricia (Hugh O'Neill), Kemptville; Peter (Karen Shea), Sheenboro and Janet (Rodney Morris), Pembroke. Also survived by brothers Claude - a twin - (Mary O'Brien), Lorne and Jim and sisters Annie (Lou Scanlan) and Teresa (Bob Cherwanka). Lovingly remembered by 28 grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents James Gleason and Annie Tallon, his sisters Martha and Marie (Lloyd Landers) and his brother Arthur (Archie). Friends may call at the Ringrose Brothers Funeral Home, Chapeau, Quebec, Wednesday from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. Funeral Thursday, July 11 to St. Paul the Hermit Church, Sheenboro for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in parish cemetery.
