Died fighting July 9, 2002 at the Ottawa General ICU at the age of 29. Since February 14, Sean fought courageously, the only way he knew, to beat Leukemia. Sean is survived by his devoted and adoring partner Andrea Francis; his loving family, mother Gail Barker, his sister Jennifer Chennette, stepfather Michael Pond, uncle Garry Barker (Halifax) and grandmothers Ellen Barker and Helen Pond. Predeceased by his close grandfather Alan Barker. In his early years, Sean grew up in Aylmer where he graduated from Philemon Wright High School followed by graduation from Laurentian University and Carleton University. He worked with MBNA Canada Bank the past three years, recently as Marketing Manager. Sean's great love to play and to compete at hockey was only fueled by his longtime loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, July 10th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 11th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 179 Murray Street (St. Patrick Street and Cumberland Street) on Friday, July 12th at 9:30 a.m. with interment at Beechwood Cemetery, followed by a reception at 339 MacKay Street (New Edinburgh). Donations to the Ottawa General BMT Little Angel Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
