Peacefully at the Glebe Manor Retirement Home, Toronto on Friday, July 19, 2002 at the age of 76 years. Beloved husband of his hero, the late June Shields (Seeley), and loving father of Diane Helliker and her husband Doug of Toronto and Michael Shields and his wife Ilga of Richmond Hill. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Carmen Day, Brianna and Madison Shields. Also survived by his sisters Catherine (Kitty) Shields, Rita Shields and Margaret Reilly (Ken) and his brother Jim Shields (Lorraine) all of Ottawa and his sister Teresa Gibbons of Montreal. Predeceased by his parents Stephen Shields and Margaret Doyle, a sister Mary Wilson, brothers Joe and Pat Shields and by brothers-in-law Joe Powers, Ken Gibbons and Clayton Wilson. Family and friends are invited to gather for a ceremony in celebration of Ed's life at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday at 1:30 p.m. A gathering will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Cremation will take place at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland. In remembrance, donations to the Sherwood Park Manor would be gratefully acknowledged.
