The Lazaro family announces with great sadness the sudden death of Katie Lazaro, age 22, on July 28, 2002 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (formerly of Ottawa, Canada and Fort Lauderdale, Florida). Katie was the wonderful and beloved daughter of Peggy (Margaret) and Jay Lazaro. Cherished sister of Charley, Marcela, Noelle, Bryant, Miguel, Sebastian, Donnell and Francisco, loving granddaughter of Donald and Catherine Hamblin and the late Violeta and Enrique of Argentina, niece of Kathleen and Tony Andrews, and cousin of Stephanie, Kyle and Anthony. She was loved and admired by a devoted family and by all those who knew her. An Ashbury College graduate (1998), undergraduate Temple University, Philadelphia, and a member of the National Scholarship Society, who sparkled with intelligence, spirit and humour. She lived her short, remarkable life with fullness and will be remembered and never forgotten by those who knew and loved her. May the memories of her life be a blessing to her family and friends. Funeral services and burial will take place in Philadelphia. A Memorial Service will be held in Ottawa at Ashbury College, 362 Mariposa Avenue, on Sunday, August 11th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Katie Lazaro Memorial at Ashbury College.
