Lt. Col. ED CD (Retired) 1915 - 2002 Suddenly at home, Friday, August 9, 2002. Beloved husband of Jean Marjorie (Benbow) Fortier and the late Andree Fortier. Loving father of Raymond, Guy (Joan) and Constance Renaud (John). Cherished grandfather of Lysa, Justine, Gregg, Simone, Matthew, Christopher and Andrew. Fondly remembered by his sister Paulette Fortier s.g.n. and son in law Bob Fawcett. Predeceased by his daughter Louise, son Pierre and stepdaughter Judy Benbow. Born and educated in Ottawa. Joined the Hull Armories-Armored Corps. Served in Europe and the South Pacific. Commanded U.S. Troops from Nanaimo B.C. to Kiska, Aleutian Islands and retired as Commanding Officer of the Hull Armories. Began his working career in the Committees Branch of the Senate of Canada and retired in 1976 with the title Assistant Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod. After retirement he enjoyed many years travelling extensively, including many years in Florida and Venosta, Quebec. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Ave. (west of Carlingwood) Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday to eglise St-Bonaventure for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. Donations to The Louise Fawcett Nursing Education Fund - Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre Foundation appreciated.
