1916 - 2002 T.W.J. (Jerry) Strachan, Warrant Office 2nd Class, retired, C.D., T.G.O., born on December 5, 1916 in Ottawa, Ontario, passed away on August 18, 2002 in Calgary, Alberta. He is survived by his beloved wife Winnie; children Donald (Pat) Strachan, Joanne (Clarence) Baxter, Peggy (Andy) Johnson and Wendy Lloyd (Thomas Boden); grandchildren Brad (Kim), Kevin (Arlene), Lisa (Chris), Cindy (Scott) Don, Jere, Shane, Dean, Matthew, Darryl, Jameson; great grandchildren Lauren, Brendan, Julia and Kathleen; daughter-in-law Shirley Calam; stepchildren Wayne (Marilyn) Niddrie and Sandy (John) Cumming and their children David, Christopher, Kevin, Jonathan, Chelsea and Melissa as well as family member Delores McMillan. Jerry was predeceased by his beloved first wife Verna; son Bob; daughter Cheryl; son-in-law John; grandson John David; great-grandson Stephen and all of Jerry's brothers and sisters. Jerry served his country honorably, first with the Army Medical Corps from 1936, then in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1938 - 1963, including service overseas during World War II. He worked with Canada Customs for 16 years, where he received many commendations from both the Canadian and United States Governments. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch #285, 9202 Horton Road S.W. on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Doantions can be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, Room 109, 315 - 10 Avenue S.E.
