At the young age of only 69 years, Warren passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 5, 2002, in his hometown of Ottawa, following an extremely courageous and difficult struggle with emphysema. Eldest son of the late Ruth Warren and Henry (Harry) Gibson, Warren was the cherished brother of Ron Gibson (Mary) of Aurora, ON. and Beth-Anne Exham of Edmonton, Alt. Predeceased by his youngest son Andrew, Warren was the loving father of Bob O'Reilly in Vancouver, Dan Gibson in Ottawa and Erin McFarlane in Renfrew, and exceptionally proud Grampa to Cameron and Molly McFarlane, Chase O'Reilly and Jessie and Katie Gibson. "Uncle Warren" will be sadly missed, yet fondly remembered, by a great many loving family members and dear friends. "Rest in peace, Dad. That twinkle in your eye and playful grin will live on in all of us forever." On behalf of Warren's family, our heartfelt and everlasting appreciation goes out to the team of caring and supportive staff at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital. Your kindness was appreciated more than you know. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Monday, September 9, 2002 from 9 am until the service in the chapel at 11 a.m. A private cremation will take place followed by interment at the Sandy Hill Cemetery in North Augusta, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, please offer your strength and support to those you love in their efforts to quit smoking. A donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
