Peacefully at his residence in Alexandria on Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the age of 81 yrs. William van der Byl formerly of Lochiel, beloved husband of 56 yrs. to Margaret van AAlsum. Loving father of Rudie (Beverly), Dick (Monique), Jack (Michelle), Anna Margaret (John), Adrian (Elaine), Fredric (Sara), Henry (Franziska), Catherine, Helen (Ray), Tony (Jo-Anne) and Connie (Ryder). Will be sadly missed by his 27 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by 2 granddaughters, Sheree-Anne and Alisha. Also survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers in Holland an 1 brother and 1 sister in Canada. Relatives and friends may call at Munro & Morris Funeral Home Ltd., 114 Main St., Alexandria from 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8th. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Finnan's Cathedral, Alexandria, on Monday, September 9, 2002 at 11 a.m., followed by interment at St. Alexander's parish cemetery, Lochiel. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
