Marian SADOKIERSKI

WWII VETERAN, FORMERLY OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION SOUTH CARLETON BRANCH 314 Finally at peace, Marian Sadokierski, husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 with his beloved life partner, companion, friend and wife, Greta, at his side. He also leaves behind to grieve his passing his devoted daughter Diana, his "second son", son-in-law Michel Bedos, his loving son Robert and his daughter-in-law Josette Melanson. He was the much loved "Opa" of three grandchildren, Evangeline Bedos and Alexandra and Eric Sadokierski. He struggled determinedly for life and blessed his family with several extra years of memories to cherish. He was a decorated World War II Veteran and served with the Polish Forces under British Command and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was awarded The Bronze Cross of Merit with Swords and The Cross of Montecassino by the Polish Government and, The (1939-1945) Star, Italy Star, Defense Medal and War Medal (1939-1945) by the British Government. A gentle, humorous, strong willed man, Marian will be greatly missed by friends and family in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Europe. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, September 12 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Akbari and the supportive, compassionate staff at the Dialysis Unit at the Civic Hospital, to the caring staff in 5B and Emergency, to Marielle and the Palliative Care Team and to Dr. Shabnam Hussain, who treated not just the patient, but the family. Support and help from concerned and loving friends have made this journey easier. May his spirit now finally soar freely and may he walk his cherished dog Diva without pain.
