With great love and sorrow, Fern's family announces her passing on Saturday, September 14, 2002, after a courageous life with Charcot Marie Tooth disease. Fernande Marie Claire Bernier age 79. Beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Thomas Patrick Owens. Cherished mother of Tom Owens (Julie), Louise (Dr. Tom Mes), Carole Marinett, Michele Owens and Joanne (Will Warford). Loving grandmother of Andrew Mes, Amy (Brad Fennell), Allison Mes; Michael and Matthew Marinett and Tommy Warford. Dear sister of Claire (Jean Brault) of Montreal. Fond sister-in-law of Bill and Wanda Owens; and Mary Ward. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caring staff of the Empress Kanata Retirement Home; Dr. Farncombe and her team, for their excellent care and support; to the nurses from Home Care, V.O.N., the St. Elizabeth Health Care who made such a difference and the Sylvia House Hospice visitors for their time and devotion. We know she will be sadly missed by her "best friend" Fran and the nurse she loved dearly, June.
