Peacefully surrounded by family at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa on Wednesday, September 18, 2002. John Yates, beloved husband of Pat Yates (nee Sheridan). Much loved father of Maureen Mangan and her husband Steve, Colleen Emerson and her husband Andrew, Patti Wing and her husband Jason, Chris and his wife Theresa, and Kathy Mangan and her husband Gary. Cherished grandfather of John Ross, Stephanie, Melissa, Michelle, Jaime, Leslie, John, Travis, Matthew, Shannon, Mark, Sarah, Patrick, Kyle, and Connor. Dear brother of Sheila Ovington, Pat Donovan, Phil Yates (Colleen), Gary Yates (Anna). Dearest brother-in-law of Helen Fenlon, Joe Sheridan, Mary Ford (Bill), Tom Sheridan (Luella), Alice Goodbody (Jay). Predeceased by 2 brothers-in-law Don Ovington, and Jack Donovan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home, 63 Garden Street, Gananoque on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. John the Evangelist Church on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal, St. John S. Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
